Cant use imported skins on switch

I play minecraft on switch and for the past 3 days i've been trying to connect my imported skin from mobile to my switch. It doesn't work when i'm in a world or server. In fact no skin that i have on mobile connect to switch. But somehow when i create skins on my switch it shows up on my phone. I really just want to be able to have my own skin on switch.
