Signing in problem (not the same as before) android

One of the patch notes on the 1.16.40 hot fix it said it fixed a problem with the sign in button, and I think this created a different problem making it so I can't sign in. Whenever I try to sign in on the pop up menu it just keeps loading and never stops, when I try to sign in on the main menu it just says it failed. I'm trying to sign in on a new android device with a account that was made and is still active on a old Amazon fire tablet. I have the Xbox app and am signed in, and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft and Xbox in every order possible, and it still doesn't work. After a little bit of going around the menu it freezes and says minecraft stopped responding.
