Naming an entity randomly causes another named entity to despawn

We are having issues with named villagers and other named mobs despawning at random.  Whenever we name a new entity we have found that we often will randomly lose another named entity in the game. This has happened both on our local games (on IOS) as well as on our realm.   I've reproduced this once by naming a pig and seeing one of our named pandas disappear.
