Won't let me place thing pattern in loom

Game won't let me place the "thing" banner pattern in the loom. I am able to put in the die and colored banner in, as well the other patterns. Only the thing pattern seems to be affected. I first noticed this in survival mode, then attempted it in creative and different seeds with no avail. I'm not playing with ray tracing enabled, nor am I playing in any of the RTX maps.
