Music settings don't work in PSVR without restart

I had the music down to 0 when first booting up PSVR, then turned it to 80 and heard nothing. Restarting the game fixed that, although the music still seems to be a lot rarer than I recall from last time I played (maybe playing 10-20% of the time), though that might just be my perception.
