Switch to Switch online multiplayer not working.

Switch to Switch online multiplayer has major issues. My daughter and her friends have issues joining each others games. They get the following messages A) 'You must be friends with someone in this world in order to join", or B) "connection timed out"

 

*++*After searching many forums, Reddit, Nintendo I have come to the conclusion that this is indeed a major issue which has not been resolved. I have noticed that this topic has never been resolved.
