Cannot load into friends world.

I can load into my world perfectly fine but whenever I try to load into my friends world it tries to load, says "Connecting to Multiplayer Game", and then says "Unable to connect to world". I've tried closing out of the application and opening it back up, as well as restarting my entire laptop. Please advise!
