No mob spawning in survival when playing in splitscreen (2 players)

For some reason the past few days no mob spawning, spiders zombies or Creepers spawn while playing in splitscreen (2 players in survival mode normal) I tried to which from Peaceful to hard and still no spawning while in splitscreen (2 players). Even in dark cave nothing spawns.
