Unable to turn off or disable Cave Ambient Sounds

Cave ambient sounds play too frequently. There used to be an option to disable these sounds in the settings menu, but I’ve looked through all menus while in a game and in the main menu — that option is no longer available. I find the cave sounds quite annoying and would appreciate a return of a helpful setting that was in a previous version.
