1.9.0.0 Minecraft - Release_1372325 Win10

Summary:

The default color of text on all existing signs has been changed from black text to white.

Impact:

This impacts every map on the marketplace that uses signs. Many of us already use the color coding options to help improve readability where we need to. This change forces our hands and ends up in some cases being even less readable. Especially on those maps where signs have been textured to be white, the text now blends into them.

Repro Steps:

  1. Open any world that had signs in them. For example: Monsters of the Deep
  2. Look at the signs.

Observed Results:

As you can see, this map was chosen specifically because Noxcrew changed the sign texture to make the black default text more readable. This change has made the white text on the white signs very difficult to read.

Expected Results:

I would expect the signs we have placed to retain the color they were made with. Thus ensuring backward compatibility with design choice, readability and intended aesthetic.

And just to be clear, I am fine with the fact newly created signs will default to white, we can change this. However to activly change every sign in everyones existing content to white can cause unintended consequences
