Summary:
1.20.0.23 introduced a new accessibility setting for the duration of chat messages on screen. Whereas before, the duration of the messages was locked to 10 seconds, now the player has more control over it. Except now the default value is 3 seconds.
Impact:
We've been building content since the beginning, knowing that any chat messages would remain on screen for at least 10 seconds. This let us time our messages so that text was always on screen while someone was talking.
This new default value is absurdly short. It should at the very least be the same as it always was, 10 seconds. You have to read at lightning speed to catch most things in chat now.
Repro Steps:
- Open the game with the default settings, and go into the Accessibility settings menu.
- Look for the Chat message duration dropdown
Observed Results:
The default value is 3 seconds (way too short to be the default!)
Expected Results:
The default value should be 10 seconds - the same it always was by default. The player should have the option to reduce it or extend it if they wish, but that should be up to the player's discretion, not set by default.
Regression Build:
1.20.0.23 introduced the new field and therefore new default value
