Destroy block overlay texture doesn't map correctly onto big cubes
Partner Rank: 3
Partner Team Reporting: Shapescape
Verification Builds: 1.19.50.02
Summary:
Destroy block overlay texture doesn't map correctly on big blocks. If a cube on a custom model is larger than 16 in any dimension, the texture overlay is stretched. If a cube is larger than 24 in any dimension, the texture overlay seems to pull textures from other places in the atlas, flashing colors at the edges of the block being broken.
UV mapping of the block model or texture size don't seem to change anything.
Block models specifying many smaller cubes don't present this issue. A cube element must be large.
Impact:
The new custom block models don't look great when breaking them. This is particularly noticeable in survival content.
Repro Steps:
- Enter the provided world
- Make sure you're in survival mode
- Attempt to destroy the test block
Observed Results:
The destroy overlay texture stretches and flashes different colors around edges
Expected Results:
The destroy overlay texture maps onto the cube by tiling itself, rather than stretching.

Making the model even bigger shows better that the game is reading textures from where it shouldn't:
