Boss bars do not respect minecraft:health component changes

  • Adjusting minecraft:health component does not change boss-bar meter.
  1. Impact
  • We're working on a time sensitive project and the work-around that we have in mind will take quite some time to implement.
  1. Repro Steps
    • download attached bp
    • create new world with bp
    • see attached screenshot of behavior file
    • /summon custom:bug
    • wait 5 seconds for health component to update and observe results
    • repeat the process, but use /effect @e instant_damage 1 1 before the 5 second timer countdown finishes and observe results before and after the timer finishes. Notice how the first entity dies (confirmed it only had 1/13 health despite health bar showing full health) and the second entity displays 1/13th until the 5 second timer finishes.

  • the boss bar should update regardless of how/when the minecraft:health component is updated.

  • Couldn't find a version where it was working.

  • I've also tried immediately setting the health, triggering event on entity spawned, only applying the boss bar after the event, applying the boss bar before and after the event, etc. Nothing works.
