Loot chests are not randomizing if placed on the same coordinates.

  • Partner Rank: 2
  • Partner Team Reporting: Aurafall Studios
  • Verification Build: 1.16.210
  • Summary: Loot chests are not randomizing if placed on the same coordinates.
  • Impact: This affects replay-ability and randomization as every chest that is supposed to have randomized loot is no longer doing that.
  • Repro Steps: (this applies to any world from the marketplace or a vanilla one that you generate, so I will post the steps for a fresh generated world)
1: Start up a new world in creative mode (no other settings need to be toggled)
2: Fly to the nearest village or structure that is known to contain loot chests
3: Ctrl+MiddleMouseWheelClick (aka, pickblock) to pick up the chest and to retain its NBT data so that randomization is kept (Note: if you only pick block without holding CTRL key, you will not obtain the randomized loot NBT. A keyboard is needed for this)
4: Place the chest down while in creative, and open the chest. Make note of what's in there.
5: Break the chest, and place it down again in the same spot. The items SHOULD be the same as before, no changes.
6: Now place the chest 2 blocks away (anywhere really) and open the chest. The loot should now be different compared to the first chest.
7: Break that new chest and place another in its place. Contents will once again mimic what was in there a second ago.
  • Repro Rate: 3/3
  • Observed Results: If the above steps are followed, the chests should still be randomizing IF they are not placed in the same coordinate space.
  • Expected Results: The chests should ALWAYS be randomizing even if placed in the same space repeatedly. This feature worked in 1.16.2, but no longer does for 1.16.210
  • Screenshots/Videos Attached: Yes, see attached video
  • Regression Builds: Worked up until 1.16.210
  • Notes: None
