Vanilla Resource pack missing textures

The vanilla resource pack is missing textures.
It seems that the client cannot find several textures/files in it's vanilla resource pack, which it seems to use for diff'ing the desired resource pack against.

Steps to reproduce
1. load the 1.2 vanilla resource pack into a world
2. load the world

Expected result

• client crashes upon world loading with the vanilla resource pack with an error message in the log in the lines of
