Maps crashing and displaying error messages that the player doesn’t have the space to run the map on the Nintendo Switch, even when they have plenty of space on their device

Summary:
This issue has been reported on the Nintendo Switch across multiple maps, since July 2019

Players report starting the world from the world template as normal, playing the world as intended for a bit but then crashing with an error message telling them that they don’t have enough storage space to continue playing the map and that access to this feature ‘has been restricted’. Players report that they often have plenty of space on their devices, including external SanDisk drives and haven’t experienced the issue with other marketplace content.

When we asked Helen Zbihlyi if the support team had received similar reports in Jan 2020 we were informed it was likely due to limitations with the Switch that restricts games to 3GB or harddrive space per game, causing players to run out of space even when there is plenty on their device.

On the back of this, our current recommendations to fix this issue has been to ask players to clear their caches to clear space for their local account to run the map in question or, in extreme cases, to create a secondary Nintendo account on their device to run the map to get around the Switch’s game restrictions of 3GB, though it is unclear if this solution works as we rarely get responses to confirm or deny its effectiveness.

As we've been unable to replicate the issue in any of our tests, I've compiled the reports into one document with all the details I've been able to gather.

Impact:
We received several emails from people telling us about maps crashing on the Nintendo Switch with error messages saying the player doesn’t have the space to run them, when they have plenty of space on their device.
Since we couldn't reproduce it, we've compiled a document which we are continuously updating with reports.
This document is linked in the mco-noxcrew slack channel, Greg and Quinn should be able to get the link.

These consistent crashes will result in lower ratings, negative social media, more customer complaints, and potential refunds.
