minecraft launcher wont show up when i open it

When i open the Minecraft launcher I sit there and wait for it to pop up bit it doesn't show up.

Steps
1. open launcher
2. sit and wait for the launcher
3. launcher doesn't show up after 5 minutes
4. I close the launcher
