cannot play offline when no internet available

What I expected to happen was...:
being able to play offline when no internet was available

What actually happened was...:
there is no play offline button and it keeps sending the bad password screen

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go offline
2. ...start minecraft
3. ...click play
