Launcher does not work with custom options (like 'minecraft screen resolution') in 1.13 snapshot profiles

If you choose a 'latest snapshot' profile in the launcher, and under 'launch settings' turn on any custom options at all (such as 'resolution' to set a screen size), then Minecraft crashes immediately upon launch (with nothing in Minecraft logs/crash logs).
