Launcher crash using 1.6.82-j

This got marked as solved and duplicate by a mod who offered no help. I have now solved the problem on my own using a debian file to update to the new launcher. Ubuntu users should look up a place to download Minecraft_staging.dbu. Depending on the version of Ubuntu you use you should be able to just double click and it will install. If you need to use the terminal to do it manually you will need to run dpkg -i on the .dbu file and then run good ol' apt-get install -f This should line everything out for you.

When I try to launch Minecraft it crashes immediately back to the launcher.

The section of launcher log containing the error is as follows:

The problem could very well lie in the hard drive itself as I've had to do several re-installs of Ubuntu after a pretty nasty Win10 boot loop I was stuck in.
