Game crash after clicking Play in game launcher

In the game launcher, when I click Play, the game crashes instead of starting Minecraft. This happens every time I have tried to play the game so far.
Notification: An unexpected error occurred and the game has crashed. We're sorry for the inconvenience. No further messages.
I can only choose Close at this point and return to game launcher again.
