Minecraft launcher won't Launch

The new minecraft launcher won't work. It failed to download icon_16x16.png and the *Request error -324*is the error. I tried downloading the old version of the laucher (Java Version) but it won't launch as well, when ever its almost done it stops. It took me about more than 5 hours and it still doesn't launch.
Please help me, I don't know if its becuase of the computer, version, or the account. Please reply and tell me what is my problem.
