it wont let me play the game because it failed to load The Download for 1.12

every time i Try to press download it says that the file can not be loaded and/or Downloaded and it starting to Worry me i wanted to play minecraft today but it seems like it did let me play minecraft and i need this resolved as soon as possible thank you for your time i would like to play minecraft as fast as i can!!~
