The game crashed whilst initializing game

Everytime I click play and try and load up minecraft i get this message:
The game crashed whilst initializing game, with this in the clipboard:
Error: org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Pixel format not accelerated

I have tried reinstalling java and both minecraft and this doesn't seem to work.
Please help me as I have not been able to play minecraft for months, just cannot seem to find the fix.
