Sometimes, the launcher fails to close itself and the game waits to start

Sometimes, when I try to play Minecraft on my old Windows 7 computer using the new launcher, the game doesn't launch until I manually end the MinecraftLauncher task using Task Manager. There are times when the launcher process successfully ends itself and the game can start, but on most occasions, I have to close it myself to launch the game.
