Minecraft Logs Unavailable

Within the launcher settings, activating the "Open output log when the game starts" button opens a new window, that stays up as you play Minecraft. However, this page is blank, I'm unable to interact with it, and often times it is unresponsive. I assume that this window is for up-to-date chat/game logs while playing on a server. The old launcher showed you logs for each session as they happened, but this launcher does not allow that. Given that I am a chat moderator on a decently popular server, having this feature back would greatly improve my ability to keep track of logs for sharing with my fellow server moderators.
