launcher not working. due to download of windows 10 edition

so i recenty downloaded or atleast tried to download windows 10 edition to play with my cousin because i already owned the pc version and i ran it a couple times because i saw it wasnt downloading i dont know how it downloads. i didnt know it downloaded on to your pc version and now its not letting me get on my launcher for minecraft btw i am on 1.8.9 if tht helps PLEASE HELP
