minecraft java error

i thought that as soon as i launch minecraft that it would take me to the login sign but instead every time i open it i get an error saying
ERROR: COULD NOT CREATE THE JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE.
and java had a fatal error
would you be able to help since there is not an option at the moment to use it through the internet.
i would be soooo gratefull
