MinecraftLauncher stops working when pressing play

every time i try to go on a different version or use a custom client and change profile i will either get a "MinecraftLauncher has stopped working" error and ill have to close the MinecraftLauncher tasks manually for mc to open or ill get a double "MinecraftLauncher has stopped working" error and mc will not open at all.it seems that if i randomly mess around with the settings on launcher it will somehow be temporarily fixed, i didnt have this problem with the old launcher ;(

*if i keep having this issue how can i switch back to the stable old launcher T-T
