Not letting me play minecraft saying failed to download

Its saying that its failing to download

What I expected to happen was I could play mine craft

I clicked the button to play newest version and it said failed to download and I've tried reinstalling and repairing but its not working

1. go into minecraft launcher
2. click play newest version and its says failed to download
