The new launcher for the minecraft 2.0.806 doesn't allow you to directly access game files

What I expected to happen was...:
After opening this updated launcher, I expected to be able to directly click "edit profile" access my "open game dir" and access my games files to either download a map, mod, or texture pack

What actually happened was...:
I clicked every button I saw on every screen and found no way to
directly access my game dir

I do not have steps to reproduce
