Minecraft Launcher stays stuck on Preparing... after I loaded my 1.8.9 game.

I tried opening my 1.8.9 game but it justs stays stuck on Preparing... . I am curently still waiting hoping it might work. I am using MacOS. It seems like these problems are caused mainly on Macs.
