My Minecraft Launcher Won't open, HELP!!!

My Minecraft Launcher won't open. I will spotlight search it, it will recognise it but then it will automatically close itself. I have never had a problem with minecraft or any other applications on the mac. I don't understand why this is happening, PLEASE HELP!!
