Launcher updated to 2.0.x and downgraded to 1.6.76 again

The new minecraft launcher won't work. It updated the launcher today, and when i tryed to get on it again, it went back to the old launcher

What I expected to happen was...:
...it would launch my game in the new launcher

What actually happened was...:
..............it updated the launcher again, and it was the old launcher
