Says "Ready to update and play" but can never finish updating.

When I open the launcher it says, "Ready to download and play minecraft 1.9.2" (could be 1.9.2 or any other version) When I click play it starts downloading, the little blue bar along the bottom gets bigger as it downloads sounds, textures and languages, (.ogg and .lang files) but it eventually gets stuck on the very last download and never finishes.

I have tried re-downloading all of minecraft as well as just the launcher, it never works. Everytime I re-downlaod it either works fine up until the ready to download and play or it gets stuck before the launcher even opens and says, "cannot download native launcher" I think this is a completely different bug but I'm not sure.

This all started because I did not have skins on any server or single player, I now think I know what caused that, the skins folder in my progam files (x86) got deleted somehow. I can't be sure about this however since I cannot run the game.
