Unable to update the Minecraft game launcher

When I tried to open Minecraft the MInecraft updater keep pops up and says unable to update the Minecraft game launcher and I can't play Minecraft. It started yesterday (Dec. 4) and I bought the Minecraft only 3 days ago (Dec. 2).
Can you fix this?
