Minecraft Won't Launch

I just updated my minecraft to 1.8.8 (according to your bug reporter we arestill on 1.7?) and now when in the launcher when I click play, this is displayed: Invalid initial heap size: -Xms2048M-Xmx1G
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
I have never had this issue before and would like it fixed as soon as possible as I enjoy minecraft a lot and don't like the idea of having paid for a game i can't play
