Minecraft versions 1.7.2 or below won't start

The game won't start because it had missing libraries.

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected it to add folders to my .minecraft folder so I tried to launch 1.7.2 and I expected it to launch.

What actually happened was...:
What actually happened was that it never started because of missing files.
