Launcher MSI does not work

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected for the application to download minecraft.

What actually happened was...:
What happened was i launched the application and i got one window labeled launcher that said "Downloading native launcher" with an empty progress bar, and behind that window their was another window labeled Minecraft Launcher, and in the window it says "Unable to update the Minecraft Native Launcher"
I have tried running the application regularly and as an administrator with the same results.
