Minecraft black screen issue?

Hello, sorry to bother you. I have an issue to report with my Minecraft. My Minecraft was working fine but when the 1.8 came out it would no longer allow me to open and play my Minecraft.

What is happening is when I open my Minecraft my profile is set to: "release 1.8" and then I hit "play" like I always do. It then loads to Mojang, like always, and right before its about to open Minecraft my whole screen goes black. The only thing that I can see is the mouse on the screen and the only way I can close it is "command Q" or do a hard shut down. I have tried changing my profile to previous updates but that doesn't seem to help, it still blacks out. But earlier this morning discovered that the Minecraft is still open, I am able to click "singleplayer" and open a world but the screen continues to stay black.

I have a MacBook Air, and this issue has never happened to me before. I have tried looking this issue up to see if any other Mnecraft users have had the same problem but I have had little success.

I have also included an attachment of a screenshot of what my screen looks like when it blacks out. Also, I should let you know that I have contacted Mojang about a week ago about this issue and they replied to contact you here.
