Minecraft Crashes on MacBook 10.5

When installing Minecraft, the MacBook crashes (screen goes black but can still hear music from game). The only way to exit the game is to turn off the computer. I tried doing a disk repair and also removed the battery from the computer-- with the same result as before. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft but this did not resolve the issue. No other applications on the MacBook cause it to crash like this, so I think that the problem is with Minecraft. If there isn't any way to fix this, can I get my money back?
