Minecraft doesn't work on laptop

I kinda think it makes sense that it won't start Minecraft, because it's like the most cheap laptop u could get, but I thought I'd report it anyway. So I got my friend a minecraft account and I launched the launcher, logged in, and pressed play and the launcher closed, opened minecraft, and then both the launcher and minecraft crashed!
