Minecraft Java stuck on 'Buy' on launcher screen

I have brought the Minecraft java and bedrock edition for pc. However, when I go onto the launcher it tells me that I can only play the Minecraft java edition preview. Bedrock is currently working fine. I have installed Minecraft Java edition but when I click on it it says 'use the launcher to play, click here!'
