I cant change my skin at all in the minecraft launcher

When I try to change my Minecraft skin in the launcher, like upload a new file to it for a new skin. The game says the skin isn't the correct size. So, I tried uploading another skin that was already on the account to see if that it was just the skin and it wasn't. So, what do I do?
