Launcher issues

Having issues getting into Minecraft launcher on and off for the past week 

Issues I am having: 

1. Launcher says unable to update native minecraft launcher
   1. Have tried the repair and reset options in the launcher app properties. Did not work and received an error code 0x1 after. 
2. If i do get into the launcher, it would say can't verify products. no internet connection

If you look at the reviews on the minecraft launcher in the microsoft store, it is clear there is a problem with it. many people are having a poor experience.
