Launching Minecraft fails

When starting Minecraft with version 1.7.7 or higher, the launch fails.
Happens most of the times.
Select a profile with version 1.7.7 or higher, and click Play.
Expected:
Loading starts, after a few seconds launcher disappears, and after a few more seconds Minecraft window appears.
Actual:
Loading starts, after a few seconds launcher disappears, and after a few more seconds launcher reappears.
Workaround:
Try lots of times until it succeeds.
