Game "crashes" when not even being played

Several seconds to a minute after closing out of Minecraft, the Launcher opened up randomly while I was on other applications. When the Launcher loaded, it showed a crash message with the exit code -1073740791 and a link that led to a Minecraft.net article on purchasing alternate versions of the game. It appears that this crash is completely random and was caused by some Launcher malfunction, so I don't know how to reproduce it.
