Launcher unable to automatically sign in on Linux Ubuntu (Chromebook)

Whenever I log in to the launcher, I keep getting a message at the bottom of the window saying, "Oh no! Something went wrong, and you will not be logged in automatically next session." I viewed the trouble shooting guide(Secure token storage failure), but it didn't help, as I got the Debian file for the launcher from the official Minecraft website.

The only potential contributing factors I am aware of for this bug are: 

1. I am on Linux Ubuntu
2. The Linux platform is running on a chromebook
