not able to use coop in minecraft for windows

i wanted to play with my friends ( i do that pretty often) but it did not let me and told me that my current minecraft version was not up to date.

What I expected to happen was...:
wanted to join a friends world and wanted to play as usual

What actually happened was...:
joined as normal but got the notification, that i was not able to do so mid load screen, due to not havin the game or the launcher up to date and checked both of it and it was the latest version possible for me to download

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start minecraft for windows
2. go to play with friends

3. join your friends world

4.do not succeed
