Minecraft 'error'

I bought minecraft from the store and downloaded Minecraft.exe ; and the provided from Minecraft.net-- However, when I ran it, It did not work, stating there was and error I needed to fix, Provided I download Java, my friend told me to update Java, I did and still, nothing has been working.
